About us

We started our journey decades ago

Mom started baking in 1973, back when recipes were handwritten, ingredients were measured by feel, and every baked good was made with love and purpose. Over the years, her creations have graced birthday parties and wedding tables, filled shelves at home industry shops, and brought comfort to countless cups of tea. What began as a quiet passion has become a lifelong offering—of warmth, tradition, and the kind of homemade goodness that never goes out of style.

Dad’s creative journey began in 1969, when—at just ten years old—he completed his first pencil sketch for a paying client. Though he only picked up a paintbrush in 2009, his natural talent caught fire almost instantly; by 2010, he was named Centurion Artist of the Year, prompting admirers to ask, “Are you sure you only started painting last year?” His literary path unfolded alongside his art—his first book was published in 2014, and his poetry debuted in Nubes Belli in 2015, with many more publications to follow. What began as childhood curiosity became a lifetime of quiet mastery, each sketch, canvas, and line of verse revealing the heart of an artist who sees the world just a little differently.

Then there’s our resident DIY dreamers—our brother and sister in law—who sees not just what is, but what could be. With a knack for turning everyday items into something beautiful, functional, and entirely unexpected, they bring a Pinterest-worthy touch to every corner they decorate. Whether it’s a handmade shelf, a refurbished vintage piece, or a clever storage solution disguised as art, their projects marry creativity and craftsmanship in a way that makes a house feel like home.

And then there’s the daughter—aspiring artist, storyteller, and baker-in-training, following in both her parents’ well-floured, paint-speckled footsteps. What began with some delightfully funny-looking sketches has grown into a deeper, more confident creative voice, shaped by participating in several art exhibitions and a lifelong love of words. Her writing is rich with heart and humour, and her first published pieces are just around the corner. Whether it’s a brush, a pen, or a mixing spoon, she does a little bit of everything—maybe not quite as expertly (yet), but always with passion, curiosity, and a good dose of laughter.

Together, we are a family of makers—bakers, artists, storytellers, DIY experts—each pouring a lifetime of passion into the things we create. From Mama’s golden, time-honoured rusks to Dad’s stirring canvases and published poetry, and the next generation finding their voice through words and craft, Paper Haven Goods is more than a shop—it’s our shared story. Every product carries a piece of our past, a touch of our present, and the hope that it brings warmth, wonder, and a sense of home to yours.
